The Waning Days of Summer

The days are getting shorter, the shadows longer.  The waning days of summer are about to be transformed into the cooler evenings of autumn.  With school having recently started, the picnic areas play host to only a few evening visitors.

As the sun sets over the horizon, a local Setting sun over Pike Lake, Hartford, Wisconsin © Drake Fleegewater skier captures the remaining rays of light before calling it quits for the day.  Those fishing from their distant boats soon enjoy the calmness that transcends upon the lake as the sun continues its descent.  Already a few sumac leaves have turned red.  As a I stand on the shoreline watching the western horizon,  I know that autumn is just around the corner.  And strangely, I’m looking forward to all the changes it will bring.
